RNG for all
Waga Energy upgrades landfill gas into grid-compliant Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), also known as “biomethane”. Thanks to its patented WAGABOX® technology, Waga Energy recovers the methane emitted by the breakdown of organic matter contained in the waste to inject it directly into the gas grid.
The result of ten years of R&D within Air Liquide and Waga Energy, the WAGABOX® technology combines membrane filtration and cryogenic distillation to separate the methane from the other components of the landfill gas. It provides high-quality biomethane that is injected directly into the gas grid. The purification units are fully automated, they operate 24/7 while being under remote computerized supervision.
Waga Energy deploys this solution through a dedicated business model. Waga Energy purchases landfill gas from landfill site operators, funds the construction and operation of WAGABOX® units, and sales biomethane to energy utilities.
23 WAGABOX® units are in operation in the world, combined, they have produced over 100,000,000 Nm3 of RNG. 13 more WAGABOX® units are under construction in France, Spain and Canada. Since 2017, all the WAGABOX® units have avoided the emission of 190,000 tons of eqCO2 in the atmosphere.

Le biométhane pour tous
Waga Energy produit du biométhane, substitut renouvelable du gaz naturel, en valorisant le gaz des sites de stockage des déchets (communément appelés « décharges »). Grâce à sa technologie brevetée WAGABOX®, combinant filtration membranaire et distillation cryogénique, Waga Energy récupère le méthane émis spontanément par la dégradation des matières organiques contenues dans les déchets, pour l’injecter directement dans les réseaux de distribution du gaz naturel.
Waga Energy déploie la solution WAGABOX® dans le cadre d’un modèle de développeur-investisseur-exploitant : Waga Energy achète le gaz de décharge aux exploitants des sites de stockage des déchets, finance la construction et l’exploitation des unités WAGABOX®, et vend le biométhane produit aux énergéticiens.
En France, 23 unités WAGABOX® sont en exploitation et 13 autres sont en construction en France, aux États-Unis et au Canada. L’utilisation du biométhane produit par les unités WAGABOX® a évité l’émission de 190 000 tonnes d’eqCO2 dans l’atmosphère.
