[Automatic translation follows] How it all began
In 2009, in the middle of the financial and banking crisis, Fidor Bank AG received its full banking license. The original founding idea was to transfer the Web 2.0 behavior that was increasingly emerging on the Internet to the area of financial services. The financial crisis gave the founding idea an unwanted but welcome sharpness and explosiveness. Transparency, integration, openness and much more were no longer "just" accessories of a new approach, but an absolute necessity.
The Internet as a new transaction medium
Even if the world of finance remains in a state of shock due to the crisis, life goes on - especially on the Internet. An information medium became a transaction medium. We call the people who are now growing up “digital natives” because they don’t know life without the Internet. This is accompanied by the development of the so-called “digital lifestyle”. This digital lifestyle is breaking up old traditions and permanently changing entire industries and nations. As Fidor Bank, we respect this development and also see the need for change in the area of financial services.
