The Fondation Tara Océan, first recognized public interest foundation in France dedicated to the world's oceans, is leading a scientific revolution: the Foundation has developed an open, innovative Ocean science that will enable us to predict, anticipate and better manage tomorrow's climate risks. We use high-level scientific expertise to raise awareness and educate young people, mobilize policy makers at the highest level, and enable emerging and developing countries to access the latest knowledge about the Ocean. A veritable floating laboratory, the research schooner Tara has already traveled more than 375,000 kilometers, making stopovers in more than 60 countries during 4 major expeditions, carried out in collaboration with international laboratories of excellence (CNRS, CEA, PSL, EMBL, MIT , NASA, and others).Original language

La Fondation Tara Océan est la première fondation reconnue d’utilité publique consacrée à l’Océan en France. Elle porte une double mission : explorer l’Océan pour mieux le comprendre et partager les connaissances scientifiques sur l’Océan pour susciter une prise de conscience citoyenne collective.
Depuis 20 ans, elle soutient une science de l’Océan innovante, en partenariat avec des laboratoires de recherche d'excellence pour étudier la biodiversité marine ainsi qu’observer et anticiper les impacts du changement climatique et des pollutions.
Face à l’urgence de faire de la protection de l’Océan une responsabilité commune, la Fondation Tara Océan sensibilise les citoyens aux enjeux de l’Océan, éduque les jeunes générations, facilite la coopération internationale et mobilise les décideurs politiques.
Grâce à son statut d’Observateur Spécial à l’ONU, la Fondation Tara Océan participe activement aux décisions importantes pour l’Océan.
