We are headquartered in San Francisco and have bureaus in Washington, DC, and New York City. Our operation is a hybrid business model that relies on advertising, subscriptions, and donations. The organization has more than 40,000 individual donors—the largest donor community of any independent, nonprofit journalism outlet.
