Das Einstein Center Digital Future ist ein gemeinsames Projekt der Technischen Universität Berlin, der Charité – Universitätsmedizin, der Freien Universität Berlin, der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und der Universität der Künste Berlin.
Das Einstein Center Digital Future versteht sich als hochschulübergreifender Nukleus für die Erforschung und Förderung digitaler Strukturen in Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Anstelle neuer Einzelinitiativen soll es mit dem Projekt in Berlin mehr Verknüpfungen geben, neue Formen der Zusammenarbeit, eine Konzentration auf innovative interdisziplinäre Spitzenforschung und exzellent ausgebildete junge wissenschaftliche Talente.
Geforscht werden soll beispielsweise in den Bereichen Smart Housing, Smart Cities, Smart Mobility, Digitale Bildung, Bioinformatik, Personalisierte Medizin, Digitale Diagnostik oder Neue Methoden der Genomdatenanalyse, Biomedizinische Bildgebung und Semantische Datenintelligenz, Identitätsmanagement, Physikalische Grundlagen der IT-Sicherheit, Internet der Dinge oder Wearable Technologies.
