Description

Our mission is nothing less than a fairer, healthier society

The UCL Institute of Health Equity was launched in 2011 by Professor Sir Michael Marmot. The aim was to build on previous works that had addressed, reviewed and measured inequalities in health - works like the ‘Commission on Social Determinants of Health’ and ‘Fair Society Healthy Lives’ (aka The Marmot Review).

Since then IHE has worked on many major reports and projects that address the Social Determinants of Health. These include a Review of Social Determinants of Health and the Health Divide, for the WHO European Region, Indicators for Local Authorities in England, Healthy Places, Health Lives, Social Determinants of Mental Health, and more.

Influencing global, national and local policies, Advising on and learning from practice, Building the Evidence Base, and Capacity Building
