Centre pour la REcherche ÉconoMique et ses APplications
CEPREMAP is a research centre born in 1967 of the fusion of the CEPREL and the CERMAP. Both centers were founded in 1961 by Mr Pierre Masse, French Plan Commissioner, in order to shed light upon French planning as a result of economic research.
Since January 1st 2005, CEPREMAP is the CEntre Pour la Recherche EconoMique et ses APplications (Center for economic research and its applications). It’s placed under the aegis of the Ministry of Research. CEPREMAP’s mission is to provide an interface between economic research and public administration.
It is an agency which provides economic research for the benefit of decision-makers, and at the same time a financing agency for projects which are known to play an important role in making public policy.
CEPREMAP defines its objectives with its institutional partners : Banque de France, CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), Centre d’Analyse Stratégique (Strategical analyse center), Direction Générale du Trésor et de la Politique Economique, Ecole Normale Supérieure, INSEE (National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies ), Agence Française du Développement (French Development Agency), Conseil d’Analyse Economique (Economic advisory group to the Prime Minister) , Ministère chargé du Travail: DARES (Department of Research and Statistics at the French Ministry of Employment), Ministère chargé de l’Equipement: DRAST (Department of research and scientific and technical affairs at the French Ministry of Equipment) , Ministère chargé de la Santé : DREES (Department of Research, Studies, Assessment and Statistics at the French Ministry of Health), Direction de la Recherche du Ministère de la Recherche (Research Direction of the Ministry of Research).
Furthermore, CEPREMAP will receive financial support from companies and institutions to develop specific applications in which the researchers will be asked to participate.
