Why talk about old people?
Today, it is difficult to talk about aging. We talk about the elderly as a demographic cohort, an economic “weight”. Or we don't talk about it at all. The very difficulty in using the word "old" is quite representative of the taboo that surrounds this period of life. The old man is, according to your choice, "a venerable Sage who dominates this earthly world from a great height", or "an old fool who rambles and goes wild" (Simone De Beauvoir, La Vieillesse, 1970).
However, it is a subject that leaves no one indifferent. The demographic transition is a global phenomenon that affects all societies, but old age is also a subject that affects us all in a personal way. Still young, we are led, through the aging of our loved ones, to have an opinion on the question of home help, retirement homes, geographical isolation, and our role in all that.
So, we wanted to talk about old people, and talk about them differently. In our videos, they tell their story and that of the places where they spent most of their lives, tell us about their daily lives, give us their tips for succeeding in love, at work, or on the contrary what has not it does not work.
Oldyssey also highlights the experiments that bring generations together in France and other countries: Japan, China, India, Brazil, Colombia, United States, Canada, South Africa, Senegal, Europe... for inspiration other forms of solidarity.
