    Empowering Young Philanthropists

SchoolAid is a national schools based philanthropy network which empowers young philanthropists helping them to change their world, through commitment and action for causes they care about. We are a mental health initiative striving to reduce anxiety, depression and the incidence of youth suicide. Philanthropy and leadership development are our primary tools to engender hope, optimism and resilience.

Currently we focus on 4 key activities

    • Crowdfunding by young people for causes they care about using our platform at www.schoolaidtrust.com
    • The development of School Action Teams (SAT) which are in-school teams using our resources to plan & implement student campaigns
    • A primary school leadership program called Kids Ambassador Teams (KATs) where groups of young people meet in corporate boardrooms to discuss and explore ways to make their world a better, fairer place
    • A SchoolAid National Awards Program that shines a positive light on young people, teachers and schools achieving extraordinary things in philanthropy

Founded in 1999, SchoolAid has been supported by each of the national associations for principals. Since inception, some 6500 schools (~ 60%) have contributed to the work of SchoolAid raising approx $5 mill for projects here & across the world.

The SchoolAid Board is made up of people from business, education and community, all of whom are committed to encouraging philanthropy in our young people. In May 2018, Warren Bingham, was welcomed as Board Chairman. The Board includes the founder, Sean Gordon, a former primary school principal and Life Member of the Australian Primary Principals Association (APPA) along with the President of APPA. Our inaugural Patron is His Excellency, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret’d). In accepting this position, Sir Peter indicated that he saw the work of SchoolAid as complementary to his role as Governor-General and work that he held close to his heart and values.
