Turismeudviklingen sker gennem samarbejde med private og offentlige partnere i fælles, fokuserede indsatser, bl.a. målrettet tiltrækning af kongresser, krydstogter, nye flyruter samt digital eksponering af hovedstaden over for potentielle udenlandske besøgende samt udvikling af både nye markeder, begivenheder og ny viden.

For at fremme fondens formål indgår Wonderful Copenhagen også i turismefremmende samarbejder og varetager opgaver både tværregionalt, nationalt og internationalt. Fonden er således den primære turismeaktør på den danske side i det tværregionale samarbejde Greater Copenhagen, som handler om at udvikle turismen i hele metropolregionen, hvor også Skåne indgår.
Wonderful Copenhagen varetager nationale opgaver gennem de landsdækkende udviklingsselskaber MeetDenmark og Dansk Storbyturisme, det landsdækkende krydstogtnetværk CruiseCopenhagen samt ruteudviklingsprogrammet Global Connected – alle forankret i fonden. Endelig har Wonderful Copenhagen ansvar for tværnationale opgaver, herunder fremme af krydstogt i Østersø-regionen i Cruise Baltic-netværket.
