Established in 1969, Brunei LNG is the first LNG project in Asia & currently the longest running LNG plant in the world.
Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (Brunei LNG) is a pioneer in the industry and is the world’s leading suppliers of natural gas. Brunei LNG has set various benchmarks in the LNG business and has consistently been ranked in the top quartile performance maintaining its reputation as the most reliable supplier of LNG, amongst its long standing customers.
Brunei LNG is a joint venture company between the Brunei Government (50%), Shell Overseas Holdings (25%) and Diamond Tenaga Investment B.V (25%). It is located in Lumut on the North West Coast of the Borneo Island in Brunei Darussalam where it faces the South China Sea.
Currently, Brunei LNG has 5 steam-driven liquefaction trains, capable of producing a total of 7.2 million tonnes of LNG annually. The feed gas is largely associated gas delivered by Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. (share structure of 50% Brunei Government and 50% Shell) and Block B Joint Venture (comprising of Total E&P, Shell and the Brunei Government) offshore fields. Most of the LNG is supplied to buyers in Japan.
With around 600 people on board, Brunei LNG is a long established and vibrant business, which makes for an exciting and energetic working environment. In 2006, Brunei LNG achieved a record LNG delivery of 218 B Class cargoes, the highest in the history of Brunei LNG.
At present, Brunei LNG is in the midst of extending the plant’s life through major rejuvenation and refurbishment in ensuring continuous reliability and productivity for more decades to come in parallel to producing and delivering on its contractual commitments.
