MÁCULA RETINA is a non-profit Association that exclusively pursues social solidarity objectives. MÁCULA RETINA es una Asociación sin ánimo de lucro, que persigue exclusivamente objetivos de solidaridad social. Nace para luchar contra patologías oculares, degenerativas o no degenerativas, de la mácula y la retina y una de sus consecuencias, la Discapacidad Visual por baja visión. Se trata de patologías que afectan a la salud de los afectados, reduciendo su visión de forma progresiva hasta llegar a la ceguera legal. La Asociación promueve la agrupación de todos los afectados por dichas patologías: degeneración macular asociada a la edad (DMAE) seca y húmeda, Retinopatía Diabética, Miopía Magna, Glaucoma, Distrofia Hereditarias como Retinosis Pigmentaria, Best o Stardgart, etc.
El ámbito de actuación de la asociación es toda España, con vocación europeista. Podrán formar parte médicos, investigadores, especialistas en baja visión, pacientes y familiares de estos.
Los fines de la Asociación se dirigen a la prevención, el diagnóstico precoz, la curación, la investigación científica y la asistencia sanitaria y psicológica de los enfermos, así como a su rehabilitación visual, su integración socio-laboral y la mejora de su calidad de vida;a generar espacios de divulgación y de participación de los afectados, participar en jornadas de investigación y eventos culturales y sociales donde se haga presente la necesidad de disminuir los riesgos de las enfermedades oculares. También serán fines de la Asociación recabar de las Instituciones Públicas y Privadas, y del estamento médico y científico, el apoyo a proyectos que se desarrollen en este sentido, mediante la aportación de los recursos necesarios de todo tipo, así como divulgar la información de todo lo relacionado con las enfermedades degenerativas de la mácula y de la retina, tanto entre los asociados como a colectivos profesionales y en el conjunto de la sociedad. Establecer acuerdos de integración y colaboración con otras organizaciones afines, tanto estatales como internacionales completa las metas fijadas.
