From forest lignin waste to renewable fossil free fuel and materials

Are you into fuels: diesel, petrol/gasoline, marine and aviation fuels?
Or into materials: thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, coatings, additives?

Do you have a fossil-free transformation agenda?

Are you looking for a sustainable, secure, and abundant feedstock?

Are you looking for an economical, technically proven and fast way to commercial volumes?

RenFuel offers Lignol®, a lignin based bio-oil. It can be refined into advanced biofuels such as green petrol/gasoline, diesel, aviation and marine fuels.

Lignol is suitable as a "drop-in fuel" for both low- and high-blend biofuels meeting all standards. It uses existing infrastructure with moderate investments in pre-treatment. Existing distribution systems and vehicle fleets can be used without adaptions.

It enables a practical solution to EU Renewable Energy Directive for advanced bio-fuels in the transportation sector, as well as becoming less dependent on fossil.

It offers both a price at the pump advantage and a Green House Gas emissions reduction advantage over e.g. pure HVO fuels.

The Lignol® technology can also be used to develop bio-based plastics and other materials traditionally made from fossil oil, for which RenFuel offers a number of product families, among which Lignisol®, Ligniset® and Ligniflex®.

Lignin is found in all trees and plants. 20-40% of this biomass is lignin. It has a high energy content, but until now a low added value, and burnt off at best. Lignin is available in very large quantities as a residue from paper pulp making, and many other agricultural waste sources.

RenFuel has a patent portfolio with cover in more than 40 countries. We have a cost efficient, proven catalytic process for making Lignol® from lignin and any waste fatty acid. The process is proven and now ready for commercialisation.

RenFuel is a Swedish innovation company and tech provider in the bioenergy and biomaterials sector, with dedicated researchers and employees committed to green chemistry.
