L’association a été fondée par 24 représentants de nombreuses spécialités et disciplines médicales et paramédicales du monde francophone. Son objectif est de promouvoir plus largement l’utilisation de la simulation dans tous les domaines de la santé en particulier par la formation, la recherche et la diffusion de recommandations afin d’améliorer la qualité et la sécurité des soins. Une ambition qui se décline en divers axes de travail, notamment :
* Promouvoir l’enseignement par la simulation en formations initiale et continue dans tous les domaines de la santé,
* Participer à l’élaboration de recommandations pour les pratiques, les organisations et les structures de simulation,
* Promouvoir la simulation comme outil d’évaluation de la qualité et de la sécurité des soins,
* Établir des réseaux entre les équipes, sociétés et autres structures utilisant la simulation pour favoriser les contacts, les échanges de connaissances, de protocoles...
* Informer les associations de patients de l’intérêt de la simulation dans tous les domaines de la santé et faciliter leur collaboration
* Favoriser l’éducation thérapeutique des patients par la simulation, et plus largement pour l’éducation et la prévention à la santé
* Créer des outils de communication pour favoriser l’éducation (site Internet, cours en ligne) et la recherche (revue scientifique) par la simulation et organiser ou favoriser l’organisation de réunions, colloques et congrès sur le thème.
