The Plasma Physics Laboratory (UMR 7648 CNRS/Ecole Polytechnique/Sorbonne University/Paris-Saclay University/Paris Observatory) is a laboratory which brings together teams working on the themes of space plasmas, cold plasmas and magnetic fusion plasmas.
This laboratory dedicated entirely to plasma physics allows us to best prepare for major projects in the discipline: space projects for the study of plasmas from the Sun-Earth System and planetary plasmas, the ITER project for the magnetic confinement of a plasma fusion; cold plasmas strongly involved in plasma technologies (applications for microelectronics, space propulsion, CO2 valorization, biomedical applications, etc.)

Le Laboratoire de Physique des Plasmas (UMR 7648 CNRS/ Ecole Polytechnique/Sorbonne Université/ Université Paris-Saclay/Observatoire de Paris) est un laboratoire qui regroupe des équipes travaillant sur les thématiques des plasmas spatiaux, plasmas froids et plasmas de fusion magnétique.
Ce laboratoire dédié entièrement à la physique des plasmas nous permet de préparer au mieux les grands projets de la discipline : les projets spatiaux d’étude des plasmas du Système Soleil-Terre et des plasmas planétaires, le projet ITER de confinement magnétique d’un plasma de fusion ; les plasmas froids fortement impliqués dans les technologies plasmas (applications pour la microélectronique, la propulsion spatiale, la valorisation du CO2, les applications biomédicales....)
Principaux axes de recherche du laboratoire :
• Les plasmas de fusion magnétique liés au programme ITER
• Les plasmas spatiaux en liaison avec les programmes des grandes agences (CNES, ESA etc...)
• Les plasmas froids pour l’environnement, l’énergie et les nanotechnologies
