[Automatic translation follows] We promote concrete actions to reduce the gender gap. STEM skills are and will be the skills of the future.
The STEAMiamoci Project was born from the awareness that gender diversity is a basic element of social growth and fundamental for the productivity, competitiveness and innovation of the company. More: diversity strategies are crucial for the development of a company and its ability to retain the best human resources, in a competitive global context.
In the job market, STEM areas have always been dominated by men. Worldwide, the percentage of women employed in STEM roles is around 24%, in managerial roles it drops to 19% (Linkedin survey). Even in the United States, often used as an example, only 14% of all engineers and 25% of all IT professionals are women. In Italy, in ICT, women are employed at 15% of the total, and the number drops to 13% for technical management, research, development and production roles.
In fact, girls mainly choose humanistic disciplines.
But how much are these choices really motivated by an individual internal drive and how much is, instead, a gender habit? Do the family and the school tell the girls that, if they want it, they also have other paths ahead of them?
