The Metropolitan Fund for Culture is an autonomous structure under private law whose purpose is to support cultural heritage projects in the Nantes territory, thanks to the principle of patronage. Since 2017, the Fund has collected more than 2 million euros from 35 corporate sponsors for 40 different projects. Le Fonds métropolitain pour la culture est une structure autonome de droit privé qui a pour objet le soutien aux projets culturels de patrimoine sur le territoire nantais, grâce au principe du mécénat. Né de la volonté de la Ville et de la Métropole de Nantes, il a été créé en mars 2017 grâce à la participation d'entreprises mécènes, afin de donner une impulsion supplémentaire à la dynamique culturelle du territoire.
Le Fonds métropolitain pour la culture est dédié aux patrimoines, au sens large. Il agit pour les musées métropolitains, leurs collections, expositions et actions de médiation. Il œuvre aussi en faveur du patrimoine bâti, portuaire ou fluvial, témoins de l'histoire de Nantes. Enfin, le Fonds soutient la création contemporaine et l'art dans l'espace public, patrimoines de demain.
Financées grâce aux dons d'entreprises mécènes, ses missions sont les suivantes :
- permettre aux entreprises d'agir aux côtés de la collectivité en faveur des patrimoines
- porter collectivement des projets culturels d'envergure sur le territoire et participer au développement social, économique et touristique de la métropole
- développer, préserver et révéler les patrimoines nantais et métropolitain, source d'enrichissement, de partage et de connaissances.
Depuis 2017, le Fonds a collecté plus de 2 millions d'euros auprès de 35 entreprises mécènes pour 40 projets différents. On peut citer le soutien aux grandes expositions des musées métropolitains, à la création artistique dans l'espace public, à la restauration d'objets ou de monuments du patrimoine, à l'acquisition d’œuvres d'art, à la création d'outils de médiation et d’accessibilité dans les établissements culturels.
