SMK Factory is an independent audiovisual production house made up of professionals in the cinematographic sector and in particular documentaries. The collective project was born in 2009, coming to be structured in its current form in 2019.
We believe in a cinema with social impact and this has always pushed us to grasp the urgency of the story and the need to publicly share the meaning that the stories of our films express. For us, producing a film also means focusing on how our works are produced, made and distributed. We work to build communities around the film and the story it tells, we implement crowdfunding campaigns and widespread distribution in the territories in order to fuel social and political dynamics.
This model, which sees popular co-production and grassroots distribution as two sides of the same coin, has allowed us to make 10 films in the 11 years of our group's life, giving national relevance and diffusion to stories that, otherwise, would not have been told. . SMK Factory è una casa di produzione audiovisiva indipendente formata da professionisti del settore cinematografico e in particolare documentaristico. Il progetto collettivo nasce nel 2009, arrivando a strutturarsi nella forma attuale nel 2019.
Crediamo in un cinema d'impatto sociale e questo ci ha sempre spinto a cogliere l’urgenza del racconto e la necessità di condividere pubblicamente il senso che le storie dei nostri film esprimono. Per noi produrre un film significa concentrarsi anche su come i nostri lavori vengono prodotti, realizzati e distribuiti. Lavoriamo per costruire comunità attorno al film e alla storia che racconta, mettiamo in campo campagne di crowdfunding e distribuzione capillare nei territori al fine di alimentare dinamiche sociali e politiche.
Questo modello, che vede coproduzione popolare e distribuzione dal basso come due lati di una stessa medaglia, ci ha permesso di realizzare 10 film in 11 anni di vita del nostro gruppo, dando rilevanza nazionale e diffusione a storie che, altrimenti, non sarebbero state raccontate.
