Nantes Institute for Advanced Study brings together researchers and intellectuals from every continent. They all have in common the fact that they consider the diversity of thought systems as an indispensable support to the institution of reason in a world destined to remain diverse and unpredictable. It is modeled on the inspiration of Princeton, where carefully selected researchers are able to benefit from temporary freedom from scheduling, teaching and administrative commitments to devote themselves to the advancement of fundamental knowledge, notably pushing back disciplinary, institutional and cultural boundaries. The IAS-Nantes was officially recognized as being of public utility. It entered the prestigious consortium SIAS (Some Institutes for Advanced Study) in 2015 alongside the 8 other leading IAS throughout the world: Princeton, Stanford, Harvard, North Carolina, Berlin, Uppsala, Wassenaar and Jerusalem.Original language

L’Institut d’études avancées de Nantes réunit des chercheurs, artistes et intellectuels de tous les continents. Ils ont en commun de considérer la diversité des systèmes de pensée comme un support indispensable à l’institution de la raison dans un monde destiné à demeurer divers et imprévisible.
Son modèle, inspiré de Princeton, permet à des chercheurs finement sélectionnés de se libérer temporairement de toutes contraintes programmatiques, pédagogiques et administratives pour se consacrer au progrès des connaissances fondamentales et en repousser les limites, notamment disciplinaires, institutionnelles ou culturelles.
L’IEA de Nantes est une fondation reconnue d’utilité publique. Il est entré en 2015 dans le prestigieux consortium SIAS (Some Institutes for Advanced Study) réunissant les 9 IEA faisant référence dans le monde : Princeton, Stanford, Harvard, Caroline du Nord, Berlin, Uppsala, Amsterdam, Jérusalem et Nantes.

Fondation Institut d’Études Avancées de Nantes
La Fondation Institut d’Etudes Avancées de Nantes est une fondation indépendante, reconnue d’utilité publique, qui reçoit pour la durée de l’année universitaire, et de façon renouvelée chaque année, une trentaine de chercheurs sélectionnés pour la qualité et l’originalité de leurs travaux.
