The Materials Processing Institute is a research and innovation centre serving organisations that work in advanced materials, industrial decarbonisation, the circular economy and digital technologies. The Institute is a not-for-profit company based in Teesside, UK. The Institute started from the original British Iron and Steel Research Association (BISRA) established in 1945, and for over 75 years has been developing new materials, processes and technologies.
The Institute is a leading international organisation for steel industry research, a nationally recognised centre for upscaling and commercialisation of materials innovation and integral to the Tees Valley and UK economy, supporting a wide range of business enterprises.
The Institute's aim is to develop and commercialise technology that helps industry increase profitability, enables growth and reduces environmental impact in a safe and sustainable way.
