Vår forskning skjer primært i samspill med andre forskningsmiljøer, men også med næringsliv og offentlige aktører. Senteret har et utstrakt nasjonalt og internasjonalt samarbeid, og bidrar også til opplæring av unge forskere.
Organisasjonen er prosjektbasert med finansiering fra Norges forskningsråd, Europakommisjonen, ulike nasjonale og internasjonale romfartsorganisasjoner, etater, og forskningsfond, samt grunnbevilgning fra Klima- og Miljødepartementet.
