The construction of a space dedicated to economic activity is planned, where SMEs and start-ups will be located, arising from existing groups or with a presence on the Campus, or that, as a matter of priority, work in the same research areas. It will also host small and medium-sized businesses, co-working spaces for freelancers and entrepreneurs, and companies.
It proposes a format that will encourage multidisciplinary work and networking.
The EEBE generates knowledge and transfers it to the productive fabric to increase the innovation capacity and competitiveness of companies. To this collaboration, often international, is added the specific attention to the needs of small and medium-sized companies that want to innovate and for which the EBBE becomes a main technological partner. The University's relationship with the company is defined in high-value innovation services, such as research projects, the generation and exploitation of patents, the use of spaces or tailor-made training, among others.
Sustainability and circularity is also one of the pillars. The courses taught, the research groups that are present and the industrial and socio-economic environment of the Campus make it the ideal place to study, learn and generate a social impact on the circular economy.

L'EEBE és un referent dins de la UPC en docència, recerca i innovació en l'àmbit de l'enginyeria industrial
L'Escola d'Enginyeria de Barcelona Est (EEBE) és un referent de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya en docència, recerca i innovació en l'àmbit de l'enginyeria industrial, especialment en les tecnologies: química, de materials, mecànica, elèctrica, electrònica, biomèdica i d'energia. Té per objectiu consolidar-se com un centre acadèmic d'alta qualitat en l'àmbit de l'enginyeria per a la indústria del segle XXI, capaç d'actuar com a agent de transformació, en col·laboració amb el teixit socioeconòmic del país, i amb una clara vocació internacional.
Es troba al Campus Diagonal-Besòs (CDB), entre Barcelona i Sant Adrià de Besòs, amb edificis dedicats a la docència i la recerca.
El projecte del CDB és viu. Està prevista la construcció d'un espai dedicat a l'activitat econòmica, on s’hi ubicaran pimes i startup sorgides dels grups existents o amb presència al Campus, o que, prioritàriament, treballin en les mateixes àrees de recerca. També acollirà petites i mitjanes empreses, espais de co-treball per a persones autònomes i emprenedores, i empreses.
Proposa un format que fomentarà el treball multidisciplinari i la feina en xarxa.
L'EEBE genera coneixement i el transfereix al teixit productiu per incrementar la capacitat d'innovació i la competitivitat de les empreses. A aquesta col·laboració, sovint internacional, se suma l'atenció específica a les necessitats de les petites i mitjanes empreses que volen innovar i per a les quals l'EBBE esdevé un soci tecnològic principal. La relació de la Universitat amb l'empresa es concreta en serveis d'innovació d'alt valor, com són els projectes de recerca, la generació i explotació de patents, l'ús d'espais o la formació a mida, entre altres.
La sostenibilitat i la circularitat és també un dels pilars. Els estudis impartits, els grups de recerca que hi són presents i l'entorn industrial i socio-econòmic del Campus el converteixen en el lloc ideal on estudiar, aprendre i generar un impacte social sobre economia circular.
