Our mission: to promote the implementation of actions aimed at raising awareness of the environment and preserving biodiversity.
The ARB Occitanie and its partners have a dual objective: to better coordinate the initiatives of public actors in favor of biodiversity and to strengthen concrete actions to protect and promote biodiversity in Occitanie. Our main missions are to promote knowledge on the biodiversity of the regional territory, citizen mobilization, networking biodiversity actors across Occitanie and supporting biodiversity project leaders.
In 2019, the Occitanie Region is acquiring a Regional Biodiversity Agency under the status of Public Environmental Cooperation Establishment (EPCE). The ARB Occitanie was born from an ambitious initiative by the Occitanie Region to initiate a discussion on biodiversity issues, in close collaboration with the French Biodiversity Agency, the DREAL Occitanie, the Adour-Garonne Water Agency and the Rhone Méditerranée-Corse Water Agency. Notre mission : favoriser la mise en place d’actions visant à sensibiliser à l’environnement et préserver la biodiversité.
L’ARB Occitanie et ses partenaires portent un double objectif : mieux coordonner les initiatives des acteurs publics en faveur de la biodiversité et renforcer les actions concrètes de protection et de valorisation de la biodiversité en Occitanie. Nos missions principales sont la valorisation de la connaissance sur la biodiversité du territoire régional, la mobilisation citoyenne, la mise en réseau des acteurs de la biodiversité à l’échelle de l’Occitanie et l’accompagnement des porteurs de projets sur la biodiversité.
En 2019, la Région Occitanie se dote d’une Agence régionale de la Biodiversité sous le statut d’Établissement Public de Coopération Environnementale (EPCE). L’ARB Occitanie est née d’une initiative ambitieuse de la Région Occitanie d’engager une réflexion autour des enjeux de la biodiversité, en étroite collaboration avec l’Agence Française de la Biodiversité, la DREAL Occitanie, l’Agence de l’eau Adour-Garonne et l’Agence de l’eau Rhone Méditerranée-Corse. L’originalité de cette agence est liée à son mode de gouvernance qui associe l’ensemble des acteurs impliqués dans les politiques de biodiversité.
