Le Forum Vies Mobiles est le think tank de la mobilité, soutenu par SNCF. Ses travaux portent sur les modes de vie et la manière dont les déplacements structurent leur déploiement, leurs rythmes et permettent d’organiser nos activités (travail, loisirs, consommation, etc.). Par ailleurs, la congestion, la pollution et la crise climatique la remettent fortement en cause ainsi que l’organisation actuelle des territoires.
Dans ce contexte, le Forum Vies Mobiles cherche à préparer la transition mobilitaire. Il défend la position selon laquelle la mobilité rapide, fondée sur le pétrole, ne peut plus être une simple variable d’ajustement des autres politiques (logement, travail, industrie,...).
Pour élaborer des voies alternatives et désirées, le Forum Vies Mobiles monte des débats, encadre des recherches et des projets artistiques, lance des expérimentations et diffuse des connaissances au niveau international, notamment via des publications, son site internet et sous forme d’événements. Il cherche à donner aux individus, aux entreprises et aux acteurs publics, des moyens pour comprendre et débattre de la place des déplacements dans nos sociétés.
Depuis 2019, le Forum Vies Mobiles s’est positionné comme un think tank citoyen. Il a initié pour cela un dispositif de démocratie participative : le Forum Citoyen des Vies Mobiles.
