The Colorado Science and Engineering Fellowship is designed to give policy making experience to undergraduate and graduate students with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Throughout the session, each fellow will conduct his/her own policy research project in addition to learning more about STEM policy through seminars and industry site visits. This year’s site visits include Lockheed Martin Space Engineering & Technology Corporation, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Lakewood Data Center, the Institute for Science and Policy, and the Craig Trapper Mine. This year’s speakers include Former Governor Bill Ritter, Thad Kurowski, the Senior Policy Advisor for Tesla, Congressman Joe Neguse, K.K. DuVivier from DU Law School, and Governor Jared Polis. Fellows will work with State Senator Chris Hansen and Senator Bob Rankin, both of whom have had extensive careers in the energy and technology industries, as well as substantial legislative experience working in the Colorado State Capitol, to hopefully turn their ideas into law.
