[Automatic translation follows] The Hubert Curien Multidisciplinary Institute (UMR7178, CNRS / University of Strasbourg) is an example of successful multidisciplinarity. An ambitious institute that brings together the skills of physicists, chemists and biologists to develop very high-level multidisciplinary programs with scientific instrumentation as a foundation.
The IPHC is structured into four departments: the Department of Ecology, Physiology and Ethology (DEPE), the Department of Subatomic Research (DRS), the Department of Analytical Sciences (DSA) and the Department of Radiobiology, Hadrontherapy and Molecular Imaging ( DRHIM).
The multidisciplinary aspects of the research programs have been developed to become projects in their own right, such as the Biloggers project (DEPE – DRS), Proteomics (DSA – DEPE – DRS), new chemical probes for molecular imaging ( DRS – DSA – DEPE)...
The Cyrcé cyclotron, installed at the IPHC at the end of 2012, is a powerful tool for developing multidisciplinary activities around health since it allows the production of radioisotopes and the preparation of radiolabeled molecules. A new flagship of multidisciplinarity at the CNRS and at the university, orchestrated by the academic world, it brings together teams of physicists, (radio)chemists, biologists and doctors around scientific programs to participate in advances in medical research in France through the study of life, diagnostic assistance and the evaluation of new drugs.
In terms of training, the IPHC is involved at various levels of responsibility, among others, in 5 master's degrees at the University of Strasbourg.
The IPHC has been headed since August 2021 by Sandrine Courtin.
