Founded 1987, the Metro NY Chapter of the US National Committee, UN Women is the oldest and largest chapter of the USNC, one of 14 national committees that support UN Women in their mission towards gender equality and the empowerment of women globally. We are an independent non-profit, 501c3 organization.

We are a force for social change. The Metro NY Chapter connects the local community with the critical issues that UN Women confronts globally.

We are an educator. The Metro NY Chapter raises the local public’s understanding of global women’s issues and UN Women campaigns aimed at changing attitudes toward women’s rights.

We are an advocate. The Metro NY Chapter’s advocacy efforts focus on influencing international gender policies, norms and standards through the Commission on the Status of Women events and gender legislation.

We are a collaborative partner. The Metro NY Chapter partners with a wide variety of organizations through its program development, public education and fundraising activities, including UN agencies, civil society, major corporations, small businesses, universities and the media.
