AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions is a non-profit association co-founded in 2014 and directed by Camille Morineau.

AWARE works to make women artists of the 19th and 20th centuries visible by producing and posting free, fully bilingual French/English content on its website about their works: biographical notices, thematic tours on major subjects in the history of art, animated series for children and podcasts offer ways to better understand or discover the lives and works of women artists.
With the aim of widely disseminating research on women artists, AWARE organizes, in collaboration with universities and museums, conferences, round tables and study days in France and abroad. It also participates in various fairs and biennials around the world in order to increase the visibility and presence of women artists.
In order to pay tribute to women whose artistic careers have not been celebrated at their true value and to promote young artistic creation, the AWARE prizes for women artists are awarded each year, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture.
AWARE publishes its own publications: events organized by the association, such as conferences or study days, are the subject of a book. Bibliographic resources relating to women artists and feminist art are made available to all. Some can be consulted at the AWARE documentation center in Paris (by appointment), or online.

« La grande ambition scientifique d’AWARE est de réécrire l’histoire de l’art de manière paritaire. Il est grand temps de replacer les artistes femmes au même plan que leurs homologues masculins et de faire connaître leurs œuvres. »
AWARE travaille à rendre visibles les artistes femmes des XIXe et XXe siècles en produisant et en mettant en ligne sur son site Internet des contenus gratuits et entièrement bilingues français/anglais sur leurs œuvres : notices biographiques, parcours thématiques sur des sujets majeurs de l’histoire de l’art, série animée destinée aux enfants ou encore podcasts offrent ainsi des entrées pour mieux comprendre ou découvrir les vies et les œuvres des artistes femmes.
Dans l’objectif de diffuser largement les recherches portant sur les artistes femmes, AWARE organise, en collaboration avec des universités et musées, des colloques, tables rondes et journées d’étude en France et à l’étranger. Elle participe également à différentes foires et biennales dans le monde afin d’accroitre la visibilité et la présence des artistes femmes.
Afin de rendre hommage à la fois aux femmes dont la carrière artistique n’a pas été célébrée à sa juste valeur et valoriser la jeune création artistique, les prix AWARE pour les artistes femmes, sont remis chaque année, en partenariat avec le ministère de la Culture.
AWARE édite ses propres publications : les événements organisés par l’association, comme les colloques ou journées d’étude, font l’objet d’un ouvrage. Des ressources bibliographiques relatives aux artistes femmes et à l’art féministe sont mises à disposition de tous et toutes. Certaines sont consultables au centre de documentation AWARE à Paris (sur rendez-vous), ou en ligne.
