L’Île-de-France, avec ses 12 millions d’habitants, concentre 18% de la population française, sur 2% du territoire national. Première destination touristique mondiale, et 1er PIB régional d’Europe, elle accueille 700 000 entreprises, 6 millions d’emplois salariés et non-salariés, et se place au 1er rang européen pour la recherche et le développement.
La Région Île-de-France, son conseil régional de 209 élus, et une administration forte de plus de 2.500 agents au sein des services administratifs, agissent dans la plupart des domaines qui concernent la vie quotidienne des Franciliens :
- Les transports : chaque jour, 41 millions de déplacements s’effectuent sur un territoire de plus de 12 000 km2. La Région investit massivement dans le matériel et les infrastructures de transports collectifs. Elle favorise aussi les circulations douces, les modes de transport alternatifs et les nouvelles formes de mobilité, plus économes, et plus respectueuses de l’environnement.
- Le développement économique et l’innovation : La Région apporte son soutien aux entreprises, s’engage pour l’emploi en favorisant l’apprentissage et l’insertion professionnelle des jeunes et des salariés. Plusieurs dispositifs régionaux permettent d’accompagner les entreprises dans leurs investissements en recherche et développement (R&D). La Région soutient aussi les nouvelles formes d’organisation du travail (télécentres...), ainsi que les communautés scientifiques et numériques.
- La recherche : Forte de 26 000 doctorants, la Région a mis en place des financements dédiés aux post-doctorants et aux jeunes chercheurs pour favoriser l’emploi scientifique.
- Les lycées : dotée d’un patrimoine de 470 établissements publics, la Région mène, à destination des lycéens du public et du privé, une politique ambitieuse, selon des principes d’égalité, de réussite et de modernité.
