The water agency is a public establishment of the State, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
Our workforce is 284 full-time equivalents. We are senior environmental engineers and technicians, lawyers, business managers, budgeters, IT specialists, cartographers... with equal male/female balance. 70% of our positions are at a high level of qualification, category A of the civil service, or 1bis, 1 and 2 of the status of water agencies.
Our mission: to help preserve water resources and aquatic environments by providing technical and financial assistance to communities, economic players, associations to reduce pollution, better manage resources, restore waterways and wetlands.
We finance this aid thanks to the fees we collect from water users. An important part of our activity concerns the knowledge of aquatic environments and their functioning and the facilitation of consultation, in particular through the committee of basin. This “water parliament” is made up of 190 representatives of different water stakeholders. It is he who develops the basin strategy for “good water status” (for those in the know, the “Sdage”).
The Loire-Bretagne basin corresponds to the hydrographic basins of the Loire and its tributaries, the Vilaine and the coastal Bretons and Vendée. This is approximately a third of the metropolitan territory, 8 regions, 36 departments, 7,000 municipalities and 12.7 million inhabitants.
We are located in Orléans, where our headquarters and the Centre-Loire delegation are located, and in four other large cities in the basin: the Armorique delegation in Saint-Brieuc Ploufragan, the Maine-Loire-Océan delegation on the sites of Nantes and the Mans, the Poitou-Limousin delegation in Poitiers and the Allier-Loire upstream delegation in Clermont-Ferrand.

L'agence de l'eau est un établissement public de l'État, sous tutelle du ministère du développement durable.
Notre effectif est de 284 équivalents temps plein. Nous sommes des ingénieur(e)s et techniciens supérieurs de l'environnement, des juristes, des chargés d'affaires, des budgétaires, des informaticiens, des cartographes... à parité homme/femme. 70 % de nos postes sont à haut niveau de qualification, catégorie A de la fonction publique, ou 1bis, 1 et 2 du statut des agences de l'eau.
Notre mission : contribuer à préserver les ressources en eau et les milieux aquatiques en apportant une aide technique et financière aux collectivités, acteurs économiques, associations pour réduire les pollutions, mieux gérer les ressources, restaurer les cours d'eau et les zones humides.
Nous finançons ces aides grâce aux redevances que nous percevons auprès des utilisateurs d'eau.Une partie importante de notre activité porte sur la connaissance des milieux aquatiques et de leur fonctionnement et sur l'animation de la concertation, en particulier au travers du comité de bassin. Ce "parlement de l'eau" est composé de 190 représentants des différents acteurs de l'eau. C'est lui qui élabore la stratégie du bassin pour un "bon état des eaux" (pour les connaisseurs, le "Sdage").
Le bassin Loire-Bretagne, correspond aux bassins hydrographiques de la Loire et de ses affluents, de la Vilaine et des côtiers bretons et vendéens. C'est environ le tiers du territoire métropolitain, 8 régions, 36 départements, 7 000 communes et 12,7 millions d'habitants.
