Son activité principale consiste en la formation et en l'accompagnement des étudiants et des jeunes diplômés dans leur projet entrepreneurial. Le Catalyseur effectue également de la médiation scientifique et technique auprès du grand public. Le projet Catalyseur a pour ambition de réunir sous un même espace les étudiants, les chercheurs, les enseignants, et les entrepreneurs dans le but de créer et développer ensemble un projet entrepreneurial. Pour y arriver Le Catalyseur dispose de quatre espaces distincts : un espace de coworking, un fablab, un showroom, et un espace de convivialité.
