The ONF, a major player in the forest-timber sector, brings together more than 8,200 professionals working to manage 11 million hectares of public forests, in mainland France and overseas.

L’ONF, acteur majeur de la filière forêt-bois, rassemble plus de 8 200 professionnels œuvrant au service de la gestion de 11 millions d’hectares de forêts publiques, en métropole et en outre-mer.
Au quotidien, les forestiers veillent à l’entretien, au développement et au renouvellement de ces espaces. Leur gestion permet de concilier trois objectifs indissociables : répondre aux besoins des hommes grâce à la production et à la récolte de bois, préserver l’environnement et accueillir le public.
L’Office réalise également des missions de service public pour le compte de l’État dans les domaines de la prévention et de la gestion des risques naturels : protection du littoral, restauration des terrains de montagne, défense des forêts contre les incendies. Des prestations et des services « sur mesure », dédiés à la valorisation des espaces naturels, sont par ailleurs proposés aux collectivités et aux entreprises.
L'ONF mène ses actions dans le cadre du contrat d'objectifs et de performance 2021-2025, signé avec l'Etat et la Fédération nationale des communes forestières.
