The Eucor - Upper Rhine Immunology doctoral research programme is coordinated by Eucor partner universities
EURIdoc is a new interdisciplinary doctoral programme in immunology in the Upper Rhine region coordinated by Eucor - The European Campus. The programme builds on the excellent research undertaken by immunologists at research institutions in the region and long-standing cooperation among them. It will contribute to strengthening the research effort in personalised health – precision medicine. EURIdoc receives funding from the EU through the MSCA-COFUND (Horizon 2020) scheme.
EURIdoc could attract 28 talented young researchers from around the world with diverse academic backgrounds. From January 2020 onwards, the EURIdoc fellows will arrive to take up their placements in Basel (Switzerland), Strasbourg (France), and Freiburg and Karlsruhe (Germany). Their research projects emphasise fundamental and applied immunological research in the three key themes of haematopoiesis and development of the immune system, innate and adaptive immunity and immune-related diseases. Researchers at the following partner research institutions are contributing their scientific expertise to the programme.
• University of Basel
• University of Strasbourg
• University of Freiburg
• University Medical Center Freiburg
• Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
EURIdoc fellows will benefit from the collaboration of the partner research institutions with other medical centres and industry partners. Broader training and career development opportunities have a high priority. Our partners in the private sector offer secondments and training seminars, affording insight into these sectors.
In the long-term, EURIdoc research may lead to new drugs, vaccines or therapies, for example for cancer, or for viral or autoimmune diseases.
