DigitalCity.Wien ist eine Initiative der Stadt Wien im Schulterschluss mit der Privatwirtschaft und öffentlichen Akteuren aus dem Forschungs- und Bildungsbereich, im Rahmen derer unterschiedliche Stakeholder auf Augenhöhe neue Wege der Zusammenarbeit und des Gedankenaustausches suchen und es sich zum Ziel gesetzt haben, Wien international zu einem führenden IT-Standort in Europa zu machen. Sie entwickelte sich als Folge einer im Jahr 2013 angestoßenen Diskussion rund um mögliche Lösungen zur Behebung des IT-Fachkräftemangels in Wien und weitete sich im Anschluss zu einem sehr viel breiter gesteckten Vorhaben mit einer Vielzahl an konkreten Projekten, Aktivitäten, Maßnahmen und Partnern aus. Die Initiative wird von der Smart City Agency, angesiedelt bei Urban Innovation Vienna, koordiniert. Sie sind auch Veranstalterin der Digital Days.
