The Center for Sports Law and Economics (CDES) was founded in 1978, on the initiative of Jean-Pierre Karaquillo and François Alaphilippe, Professors of Law at the University of Limoges.
The CDES develops three types of activities:

Le Centre de Droit et d'Économie du Sport (CDES) a été fondé en 1978, à l'initiative de Jean-Pierre Karaquillo et de François Alaphilippe, Professeurs de Droit à l'Université de Limoges.
Le CDES développe trois types d'activités :
1) Des activités de formation avec aujourd'hui 5 formations diplomantes proposées en France et en Europe, ainsi que plusieurs formations certifiantes développées à travers le monde.
2) Des activités de conseil sur le plan juridique et économique à l'attention des structures du secteur sport : institutions sportives et acteurs publics essentiellement.
3) Des activités de publication avec une revue mensuelle (JuriSport) co-éditée avec Dalloz et plusieurs publications récurrentes (Code du Sport) ou ponctuelles (articles, ouvrages).
Le CDES c'est un projet unique porté par trois structures : un laboratoire universitaire, une association (CDES-PROGESPORT) et un cabinet d'avocats (CDES Conseil).
Le CDES c'est une équipe d'une trentaine de personnes aux statuts et expertises divers mais guidés par une passion commune : le sport.
