Launched at MIT and based in Paris, Roofscapes works on the adaptation of pitched roofs to climate change and evolving needs in existing buildings. Using timber platforms, Roofscapes shades, greens and makes accessible roofs that were previously untapped. Roofscapes thus contributes to reducing the thermal discomfort in upper floors caused by urban heat islands, to increasing biodiversity anchors and rainwater retention, and to offering new outdoor spaces in cities.
Roofscapes' activities are organized into three main areas: research, awareness and action. Roofscapes is working with condominium associations, commercial real estate owners and local authorities, such as the City of Paris and the Île-de-France Region, on the deployment of its first projects.

Lancée au MIT et basée à Paris, Roofscapes est une démarche en faveur de l’adaptation des toits en pente face au changement climatique et à l’évolution des usages dans les bâtiments existants. Au moyen de plateformes en bois, Roofscapes ombrage, végétalise et rend accessibles les toits qui n’étaient pas utilisés jusqu'à présent. Roofscapes permet ainsi de réduire l'inconfort thermique des derniers étages lié aux îlots de chaleur urbains, d'augmenter la place du vivant et la rétention des eaux pluviales et d'offrir de nouveaux espaces extérieurs en ville.
L’activité de Roofscapes se décompose en trois axes : recherche, sensibilisation et action. Roofscapes travaille avec des copropriétés, des propriétaires institutionnels et des collectivités territoriales, comme la Ville de Paris ou la Région Île-de-France, au déploiement de ses premiers projets.

Roofscapes transforme les toits en pente en espaces accessibles et végétalisés, pour atténuer les effets du dérèglement climatique en ville et créer de nouveaux espaces extérieurs de vivre-ensemble.
