Con el nombre de “Escuela Industrial”, la actual Escuela Politécnica Superior de Córdoba inició su andadura el 24 de enero de 1928 con 170 alumnos, en el edificio no 8 de la calle Julio Romero de Torres, siendo su primer director D. Antonio Martínez Cano. En el curso 1928-1929 se inauguraron los estudios correspondientes a la “Escuela Superior del Trabajo”, con el título de “Técnico Industrial Mecánico”.
Actualmente la Escuela Politécnica Superior de Córdoba cuenta con unos 1600 alumnos y casi 200 profesionales a su servicio, entre el personal docente e investigador y el personal de administración y servicios. Situada en el Campus Científico-Tecnológico de Rabanales, dispone de un centenar de laboratorios con los más modernos medios para las enseñanzas técnicas y la investigación, repartidos entre sus 13 Departamentos.
