Coach Core is an innovative youth education and employment programme that uses sports apprenticeships to create lasting change for it's young people, creating positivity and influence in some of the UK's most challenging communities.
Our model is to create this change through multi stakeholder working, as we convene and activate ‘consortium networks’ that consist of the very best local and national sports development employers, NGB’s, councils and charities. These partners then use the Coach Core opportunity as a bridge to progress young people onto the programme so that they can become inspirational young role models in the community across a 12-18mth period as well developing a new, exciting and diverse employee within their organisation that represents real economic benefit to the business too.
Using sport and community coaching as the hook, and through the power of the collaborative working, the programme offers an unparalleled level of qualifications, training and events for all participants to experience.
We strive to support these young through placing equal importance on mentoring and personal development as well as drive their professional coaching and employability skills in an engaging, practical setting too. The future of a dynamic and diverse economy hinges on developing all talents not just academic but also vocational and creative widening the talent pool further.
The programme was conceived by The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to harness the spirit of the 2012 Olympic Games by using the power of sport to change lives and empower young people across the UK.
In the 8 years that have followed, we have impacted the lives of over 550 apprentices, 150 employers and have 14 active sites across the UK that deliver success rates of over 90% despite targeting learners who live and work in some of the UK’s most challenging communities.
